Coming into this world with 3 brothers, I wanted a sister so badly. And let me tell you, I somehow got the best one around, Lindsay.
Yesterday we lost her. Cancer. 36. Far too soon.
I’m heartbroken and honestly don’t quite believe it yet.
But the thing is, her personality is so radiant, that I know we’re all still hearing her jokes in our head. “Why are you all so obsessed with me?” You’re fabulous, Linds. That’s why. You and I both know that.
Lindsay, you’re my sister who burned the Dixie Chicks cd for me and helped me pick my song for the 4th grade talent show. (Landslide, of course). You’re my sister who bravely shaved Chris’ legs for swim team. You’re my sister who was a chicken whisperer with me at the family farm. You’re my sister who loves punny shirts and is the queen of puns herself. You’re my sister who loves the sunshine of Palm Springs just as much as me. You’re my sister who followed her dreams and hit her goals, inspiring me to do the same. You’re my sister that loved my brother and was his rock in some of the shakiest and toughest years. You two made each other strong and grew together. An example of true, beautiful love that I hope to find myself. You’re the sister who is the mama of two beautiful babies that I promise to tell all about their strong, caring, beautiful, spicy, witty mother who loves them more than anything.
I am grateful my soul got time on this planet with you.
I am grateful you went in peace holding hands with the love of your life.
My sister, I love you
